Our BlackBerry Enterprise Server solution offers a fully integrated, complete ene-to-end solution, which includes, hardware,devices and the support required.
The experience of using BlackBerry is that your emails are ""pushed"" to you. This is very simple for the user as no dial up is required and their email simply appears on the device. There are three componemts to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Solution.
- BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) - This software is loaded onto a server at the end users office behind the firewall.
- RIM relay server - This is hosted by RIM (the manufacturers of BlackBerry) and links into every mobile network in the UK.
- BlackBerry device - When a device is powered on it automatically connects to the GPRS network and establishes a context. When an e-mail arrives at a user's mailbox, the BES sends this via the RIM relay which will forward this to the device as long as the context still exists. If a context does not exist, the RIM relay will not allow the email to be forwarded. BlackBerry devices do not drop a context unless the device is off or out of signal and will constantly try to connect until one is established.
The result of this is that emails simply appear on the user's device without any action from them other than turning it on.
